大运河广场是爱尔兰都柏林港的节点，最亮眼的公共空间，设计非常华丽。广场面积1万平米，位于港口西面的滨水岸线，也是整个城市最大的开放空间。同步建设项目还有大运河剧院和 Le Meridien 五星酒店，跟商店、咖啡馆一起环绕着广场。

Martha Schwartz 是波士顿知名的景观设计师。方案中最醒目的是多边形的红色“地毯(树脂玻璃)”和绿色草地，以及“地毯”上的林立的红色灯柱。效果图上看起来很惊艳，实际建成的效果也还不错。灯柱和红地毯很有点星光大道的感觉，它连接倾斜的剧院通往水面。
