建筑设计的过程很痛苦，其纠结之处在于每个设计师都力图让每个作品都显得与众不同。这很难，但是当他灵光一闪，找到方案与现实体验中的某种关联时，那条黑暗的路程就被点亮了，这就是所谓的灵感，或者说主题。比如下面这个小建筑，它的灵感就是来自一张著名的国家地理杂志的相片。

设计：V+ 事务所
地点：Ternat，比利时
业主：Cortier - De Lat
时间：2001-2003设计，2003-2005建造
面积：360平米
造价：32.5w欧元

比利时的人口密度在欧洲排第二，大约每平方公里350人(中国的城市一般是1w人/skm)，每个居民都希望有自己的一块土地；所以合理的土地开发和约束条件是必须的，在总体规划的基础上，需满足经济学、生态学、社会学以及城市设计方面的要求。

看这个外立面很低调的小房子：

建筑师在设计这栋独立住宅时寻找了很多延伸意义上的理由，理想，公平，文化，甚至官僚主义等等。但这些解释其实没多大意义，我们只需要看下面两张对比图片：
